Welcome to the Region II Science Olympiad website!
Science Olympiad 2021 Update:
With the variety of COVID-related uncertainties, planning for our regional competition is “challenging” to say the least. Here are some bits of information.
- I have reserved space at Truman on February 27, 2021 in the event that we can hold a competition here. For this semester, we are unable to host such activities and I am not sure whether that will change for spring. Even if we are able to hold something on campus, it will look different than in the past. We will not have large group gatherings and will develop a schedule that attempts to minimize the number of people on campus.
- The National SO has been working on templates for alternate possibilities, but I am still learning about those and what might be feasible for us to do. A brief description of the formats is online at https://www.soinc.org/play/tournaments. Briefly, a “Satellite SO” would involve teams competing at their own schools and a “Mini SO” would involve students competing from home. Both pose interesting challenges from an organizational, workforce, and coaching perspective.
- We have a new Missouri Science Olympiad website: https://www.missouriso.org/
- Complete rule books are available for download at www.soinc.org.
